Individuals – Coping with Uncertain Times
Employment
While many people are gainfully employed and enjoy the working environment they are in, others might not be so lucky. This situation may force people to stay in jobs for the simple reason that the ability to gain another job is uncertain and without the income, financial stress can become a reality.
So often today, we see companies restructuring and lessening the workforce. Workers in this situation are then faced with the prospect of losing their jobs and then having to compete with their work colleagues for other positions. The thought of not being gainfully employed can lead to undue stress and uncertainty about securing another job.
Another real issue for many employees is the requirement to attend the workplace instead of working from home. The uncertainty around the security of their position might seem to be threatened and this can then lead to undue anxiety and stress.
It is often helpul to seek help from a professional to manage the feelings of anxiety and stress, and to learn strategies to help plan for these uncertain times

Finances
Financial problems can affect anyone and it is a subject that many people may feel embarrassed about. These problems can relate to any number of reasons and can often lead to health problems and relationship problems and the ability to find work if the loss of a job is the reason for the stress. To reach out for help as soon as possible is important so that the impacts of financial stress can be minimized as much as possible.
Health
There are many things that can cause health stress and uncertainty including losing a job, financial problems, bereavement and divorce or separation. Stress can also come from within and can be caused by worry about things covered by the media such as global warming, and terrorist attacks even though for us these events are uncommon. Unrealistic expectations that people place on themselves either at home, in the community or in the workplace can also cause a large amount of stress.
This stress can affect your everyday life and may manifest itself in physical conditions such as headaches, stomach upsets, fatigue, irritability, lack of concentration or difficulty sleeping. Stress is a normal part of life, but when it starts to impact negatively on the family, jobs, relationships and friendships, seeking the help of a professional could make a positive difference to your life.

Education of Children
Both teachers and parents are facing challenges with today’s education of children in terms of mental health, absenteeism and bullying to name just a few problems. It is often difficult for parents to navigate the correct pathways in the school environment to try to help their child with the difficulties they are facing and it is often just as difficult for teachers to be able to build a positive relationship with parents and to communicate in an appropriate time and manner.
It can be helpful to seek guidance from a professional for help to plan for and try to overcome the problems faced.
Relationships
Is relationship uncertainty normal? There is bound to be a certain amount of uncertainty in any relationship over a period of time with challenges that life can throw your way. What is not normal is when the uncertainty affects your ability to communicate affectively and connect with each other. This then results in the partner being pushed away. The reasons for uncertainty can be many and varied and if you start to feel that your relationship is being compromised in any way, seeking professional help in the early stages of the problems can help to lead back to a meaningful relationship.
